Admission for the weekend $25, $15 for a single day and $5 for an single session.
Below is the schedule for the conference, (note there may be some adjustments to this schedule):
Saturday, April 17
10:30 a.m. —Registration and breakfast. Bagels, juice, coffee available for purchase.
11:30 a.m. — “The Young Karl Marx: Origins of the Communist Manifesto,” with Ann Schoenfield (lecturer, Temple University).
12:30 — Brown-bag slideshow and lecture: “Eco-Socialism: Why a Revolutionary Approach is Necessary to Combat Climate Change,” with Daniel Adam (Connecticut Youth for Socialist Action). Sandwiches and drinks available for purchase.
2 p.m. — Slideshow and lecture: “Street Art of the Revolution,” with Mike Alewitz (artistic director, Labor Art and Mural Project; art faculty, Central Connecticut State University).
4 p.m. — “Working-Class and Political Movements in Pakistan,” with Adaner Usmani (member, Action for Progressive Pakistan).
5:45 — Buffet dinner ($7) begins; dinner service will continue during following session.
6 p.m. — Panel discussion: “Is Socialism Possible in the United States Today? The Fightback Against Economic Crisis, War, and Climate Catastrophe,” with Jeff Mackler (National Secretary, Socialist Action), Christine Marie (member, Socialist Action Political Committee), Andrew Pollack (staffwriter, Socialist Action newspaper).
Sunday, April 18
10 a.m. — Brunch (bagels, sandwiches, juice, coffee, etc.) available for purchase throughout the morning and early afternoon.
11:00 a.m. — “Building a United Antiwar Movement: The Fight Against War in the Middle East, and Victimization of Muslims in the U.S.,” with Joe Lombardo (National Assembly to End the Iraq & Afghanistan Wars & Occupations), Burim Duka brother of 3 of the defendants in the Fort Dix Five case, and Lejla Duka 12, daughter of Dritan Duka one of the defendants (poss. one more speaker), Christopher Hutchinson (Socialist Action candidate for Congress in Connecticut and participant in the recent Gaza Freedom March.
12:30 p.m. — Recorded greetings from Mumia Abu-Jamal. Update on Mumia’s case, with Pam Africa (International Friends and Family of Mumia Abu-Jamal).
1:00 p.m. — “The Black Liberation Movement of the 20th Century: Lessons for Today,” with Glen Ford (editor and founder, Black Agenda Report), Colia Clark (Haiti activist, former SNCC member), Dr. Lenore J. Daniels (editorial board, Black Commentator), Sky Keyes (editor, www.malcolm-che.com <http://www.malcolm-che.com> ).
3:00 p.m. — Slideshow and lecture: “After Fidel — Which Direction for the Cuban Revolution? Will Venezuela Take the Cuban Road?” with Jeff Mackler (National Secretary, Socialist Action) and Cliff Conner (author, “A People’s History of Science,” Nation Books, 2005; just returned from Cuba).
